I love writing and sharing ideas. The idea of writing a blog was immediately appealing to me. It’s a platform to create and share the things that interest me, both as an opportunity to connect with others who may have a similar interest, and to fulfill that need that we all have for self expression. I started a blog at this site in my role as a secondary school vice principal, discussing the possibilities for 21st Century learning that we were opening up at my school. Over time, my writing has dropped off. I moved to a school where my leadership focus was different, the rest of my life became significantly busier, and writing didn’t flow out of the day to day work as naturally. To everything there is a season.
This year I am growing into my role as an elementary school principal. When I started this blog I took a very formal approach in both my writing and my work. Over time I’ve found that a more personal approach is more natural to me. At our school this year our theme is “Explore”, and I’d like to do that in my blog as well. School should be a place for adult learning as much as for student learning. I’ll share my explorations in new and old areas of learning, both professionally and personally.
The original name of my blog was named in part for my first school, so that too will change, and so will the ideas that show up in my pages.
I hope I’ll have some fellow explorers!
